Patterson Logistics Services, Inc. has received accreditation under the National Association of the Boards of Pharmacy (NABP®) as a verified-accredited wholesale distributor for prescription (Rx) drugs at its distribution facilities located in Mt. Joy, PA, Camby, IN, Kent, WA, Blythewood, SC, Dinuba, CA, South Bend, IN and Boone, IA. This accreditation was granted after an on-site audit by a representative of the NABP. The PLSI organization currently holds registration to ISO9001: 2000. (This is a registration, not a certification.) In May 2009, we renew our registration to ISO9001:2008, which is a recent update to the 2000 version of the standard.

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognized standard for the quality management of businesses. It applies to processes that create and control the products and services that an organization supplies. ISO 9001 prescribes systematic control of activities to ensure that the needs and expectations of customers are met. This standard is designed and intended to apply to virtually any product or service, made by any process, anywhere in the world.

Implementing a quality management system will motivate staff by defining their key roles and responsibilities. Cost savings can be made through improved efficiency and productivity, as product or service deficiencies will be highlighted. From this, improvements can be developed, resulting in less waste, inappropriate or rejected work and fewer complaints. Customers will notice that orders are met consistently, on time and to the correct specification. This can open up the marketplace to increased opportunities.

Registration to ISO 9001 by an accredited certification body shows commitment to quality and to customers, along with a willingness to work towards improving efficiency. It demonstrates the existence of an effective quality management system that satisfies the rigors of an independent, external audit.
